With more than half of the basketball season under everyone’s belt, the Bluegrass Conference will begin play with their 2013 conference tournament this Monday. Twin Cedars’ boys head coach, Alan Stewart, said that everyone comes to play in these tournaments each and every year and it is a good indicator of where you are as a team with only a handful of games left. Stewart also told KNIA/KRLS Sports that the Bluegrass Conference tournament will help get them ready for the playoffs and what the postseason has to offer. The Sabers’ coach also said that while his team may be a five seed, their team feels like they are a two or three seed, and that they are going to come out this coming week and prove that to the rest of the competition in the conference. There are four games on the docket in the quarterfinal round of the tourney, as Diagonal will play the Sabers; Melcher-Dallas, a six seed, will host Moulton-Udell; Lamoni plays at home against Mormon-Trail, and Murray will play the Moravia-Seymour winner. Twin Cedars’ game tips off at 6:15 while Melcher plays at 7:45.
