Central Continues Search for First Conference Win this Afternoon

Posted By Sports On January 12, 2013 @ 5:57 am In Today’s Local Sports | Comments Disabled

With two good starts to their seasons, the Central basketball teams have faltered out of the gate in Iowa Conference play, dropping their first two games to Coe and Wartburg. This afternoon is a match-up against Luther, who has been tough in conference play so far. The 1 – 1 Lady Norse feature a strong scoring attack, led by Taylor Johnson who has had two 30-plus performances this season. Central’s women will be looking to slow them down offensively and on the boards, as the Norse come in average around 46 rebounds per game. The Norse men are 2 – 0 so far in the Iowa Conference, shooting almost 47 percent from the field and 40 percent from the three-point line. The Dutch men broke out of their offensive slump versus Coe and shot the ball well, but couldn’t contain Wartburg on Wednesday, falling by eight. Coach Craig Douma wants a better 40 minute effort on defense from his guys this afternoon. Today’s college basketball action in Pella will be aired live on 92.1 KRLS and streamed live at kniakrls.com, as Cory Houser and Justin Webster call the back-and-forth action, with pregame coverage starting at 1:45 p.m., and first tip at two.
