The Knoxville community will come together today as the high school hosts the annual Coaches vs Cancer event. Girls basketball head coach Jim Uitermarkt says they’ve already raised about $11,000 through cash donations and t-shirt sales. This will be the second consecutive year the basketball teams host Chariton during the event. Uitermarkt says they even received a donation from a sportsmen’s club near Chariton. Events at the high school start at 10:30 with the six-on-six alumni game and the silent auction. A meal provided by Steve Coon will start at 3:30 and run until 8pm. Tickets for the varsity games will begin being sold at 5pm – the girls’ tip-off at 6:15.
