One of the more interesting items in the list of silent auction for the Knoxville Coaches vs. Cancer event is a football autographed by many of the current Notre Dame Football members. Knoxville Girls Head Coach Jim Utiermarkt says there is a local connection to that item through one member of the squad. Eric Lee…a cousin to Utiermarkt’s wife Angie is a member of the Irish. While he does not see the field very much, he still has a very important job. He says the family jokingly calls him “Rudy.” Lee is actually from West Des Moines and graduated from Dowling Catholic and walked on Irish squad last year. The B-C-S Championship Game is tonight…Notre Dame will play number two Alabama in Miami.
