A home in rural Marion County suffered significant damage after a fire late Thursday night. At around 10:40, Pleasantville Fire crews were dispatched out to 427 Newbold St., located just west of S-45 between Pleasantville and Melcher-Dallas. Pleasantville Fire Chief Todd Caulkins says the fire started on the west side of the home, made its way toward the top, and then started burning through attic space. Melcher-Dallas Fire and the Knoxville Rural Fire Department were called in shortly after Pleasantville arrived on scene.

Caulkins says once the fire starting building through the attic space, the roof eventually gave way. He says that much of the home has significant fire, smoke, and water damage. Caulkins adds that they believe the fire may have started due to an electrical issue, but the cause remains under investigation. The Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Knoxville City Rescue, and Mid-American also responded to the scene.
