The Iowa Department of Transportation has reversed their decision to not grant licenses to the children of illegal immigrants given deferred action status through the Dream Act. The IDOT announced on Wednesday that they will be granting those individuals licenses. One opponent to the original ruling from the IDOT was State Representative Guy Vander Linden. He says that he’s happy to see the IDOT reversed their decision, because it will mean more drivers on the road will be tested and insured. That issue was one Vander Linden was planning to bring up early in the legislative session, he says this development will allow him to focus on other issues.
