Representative Greg Heartsill says more activity will start occurring in the Iowa legislature now that they’ve wrapped up the ceremonial parts of the first week. He tells KNIA/KRLS News that some committees have already gotten into policy and proposing bills. Heartsill says he was very happy with Governor Terry Branstad’s Condition of the State speech and his budget proposal. He also says he’s excited that Iowa will lead the way nationwide as the court system continues to switch to paperless model across the state. That plan was laid out by Iowa Supreme Court Chief Justice Mark Cady during his Condition of the Judiciary speech last week. Heartsill says it will cut down on unnecessary waste.
