Both Melcher-Dallas’ and Twin Cedars’ basketball teams will face familiar foes tonight as the Saints play Mormon Trail and the Sabers play Moravia. The Mormon Trail Saints’ girls have not been the best team in the Bluegrass Conference, sporting a 1 – 11 record so far overall. Melcher-Dallas’ Saints are coming off a decent fourth place showing in the conference tournament this past Saturday. The two boys’ teams just finished playing one another on Friday in the consolation bracket of the tournament, with Melcher handily winning 55 – 31. For Twin Cedars, the girls just won their second straight Bluegrass Conference tournament, this time over Moravia, and they will get to square off once again tonight, this time with conference championship implications. The Mohawks won the first meeting between the two squads to begin 2013, which was the first loss of the season for the Sabers, who have bounced back to win their last five straight, including handing Moravia THEIR first loss all season on Saturday in the conference tournament final. The Sabers’ boys just got back to .500, while the Mohawks have only two wins on the season, each of them over Seymour. These two teams first met at the beginning of the year, with Twin Cedars destroying Moravia 72 – 38. Both schools’ girls’ games tip off at 6:15 p.m. tonight.
