Tuesday night in Jewell, Krisha Houseman and Lexi Kain led PCM to victory over South Hamilton 64-50 in Heart of Iowa conference play. Houseman was the top offensive performer for either squad with 17 points, including clutch three’s in the third quarter that stretched the Mustang advantage to double digits for the first time in the contest. The Hawks struggled defensively to put a body on Lexi Kain who got the spot start for the Mustangs and made the best of it with 15 points. PCM improved to 8-6 with the win as they prepare to host Roland-Story Friday night and then Colfax-Mingo Tuesday in Monroe. The PCM boys also fared well on their 100 mile trek north as they claimed a 61-31 victory in conference play. South Hamilton was expected to challenge PCM with John Hegland entering the contest for the Hawks averaging 19.2 points, six rebounds and two assists per ballgame. Hegland was ineffective at best, getting shut down early by the smothering Mustang defense that allowed him to make only two baskets for four points. PCM Senior Forward Michael Neff was hot early and led all scorers with 19 points for the game. When asked after the contest what the focus next for the Mustangs would be, Coach Lorenson simplified things.

PCM now stands 13-1 with back-to-back home conference games coming up Friday and Tuesday versus Roland-Story and Colfax-Mingo.
