Locking up a number two and five seed, respectively, in the Bluegrass Conference tournament next week, the Twin Cedars’ girls’ and boys’ basketball teams will be looking for some momentum heading into “January Madness.” Moulton-Udell is the opponent, and for the girls, if they play like they did versus Melcher-Dallas on Tuesday, then the Sabers should have no problem whatsoever against a 1 – 8 Eagles team. Their only win came against Seymour, 40 – 37, the same team Twin Cedars clobbered in December 59 – 17. Coach Justin Nolte would still like to see a stronger effort on the boards during the game from all of his athletes. The marquee match-up could be the boys’ game, as the Eagles enter at 5 – 3 while the Sabers are 6 – 5. Moulton-Udell features four starters who average double-figures, led by Kalen Marsching at 14.6 points per game. Twin Cedars will also have to be careful with the ball, as the Eagles have stolen the rock away on average 20 times per contest. The doubleheader tonight tips off at 6:15 p.m.
