Failing to capitalize on opportunities made for a long night for the Knoxville Girls Basketball Squad as the Panthers fell to Norwalk last night 48-37. Norwalk used an 8-0 run between the first and second quarters to build an 11 point lead at the half. Knoxville would get the lead down to six in the third quarter, but a three by Norwalk help the Warriors regain control. Coach Jim Utiermarkt said those two sequences were key to the game. Meredith Cunningham had ten points for Knoxville who falls to 3-5 on the season and one-and-two in the conference. On the boys side, the Panthers were in the game down only by 12 at the half but an 11-3 run to start the third quarter put the game away and Norwalk prevailed 59-35. Knoxville Coach Jeff Larson said it was another good effort by his club, but there were too many breakdowns on offense and defense. Gerrit Davis led the Panthers with eight points. Knoxville falls to 0-8 on the season and 0-3 in the Little Hawkeye Conference.
