It was a night of comebacks for the girls again, while the boys watched Norwalk sink three after three, in a doubleheader split between Pella High and Norwalk on Friday. The Lady Dutch got off to another fast start in their contest, jumping out to a 16 – 11 lead before only scoring two points in the second quarter and four in the third to allow Norwalk to take an 11 point lead into the final eight minutes. Pella would go on a run, shrinking the lead little-by-little down to six, and got it down to three, when the Lady Dutch really turned up the intensity. Jackie Sunderman hit a triple, her only basket of the game, and tied it up with under a minute to play, and Pella didn’t allow the Warriors to get another shot off the rest of the game, coming up with key steals and making big free throws to secure a 45 – 39 win. Jessica Holterhaus again led all scorers with 17 points. The Lady Dutch are now 5 – 7 and 2 – 3 in the Little Hawkeye Conference. The boys could not follow up the girls’ performance, however, dropping their contest 55 – 35. The Warriors hit 13 shots from beyond the arc to key them to victory. Bryce Bortscheller and Nathan Clayberg each had nine points to lead the Little Dutch in scoring. Their record falls to 7 – 4 and 3 – 2 in the conference. Next up for Pella is a four-game road trip, starting with a venture out to Newton this Tuesday.
