Open weights are still a concern for the Pella High wrestling team, as they fell Thursday evening to both Norwalk and Ottumwa. The Little Dutch had to forfeit seven weight classes against Norwalk and five to Ottumwa, putting them in a deep hole early that they couldn’t dig out of. Levi Azinger continued his hot start to the season by going 2 – 0 in the 120 pound weight class, recording a pin against Kenny Onstot of Norwalk and a 16 – 2 major decision over the Bulldogs. Dillon DeJong also went 2 – 0 for the Little Dutch with a pin. The rest of the line-up for Pella could not compensate for all of the open weight classes, as Pella lost to Norwalk 61 – 16 and dropped their contest against Ottumwa 58 – 17. The Little Dutch wrestling team is now 1 – 9 in duals and 0 – 2 in the Little Hawkeye Conference, and have a break from the duals for the time being, as they’ll next wrestle in a tourney at PCM Saturday morning.
