At eleven wins, both of Pella Christian’s basketball teams will be looking at taking another step towards the postseason against a gritty pair of Oskaloosa teams this evening. It has been a nice bounce back for the Eagles’ girls after losing games to North Polk and Norwalk earlier this year, they have won four-in-a-row and have also earned themselves a first round bye in the Class 2A regional tournament in February. Coach Kevin Van Maanen said that despite only two teams having a winning overall record in their conference, you have to come ready to play each night, so they have to focus on the task at hand. Tonight, however, they must set their sights on an Oskaloosa team that has had to do a bit of cleaning up after losing in double overtime to Pella last Friday. The Eagles’ boys have won five-in-a-row and stifled the Indians in their last meet up in early December. Austin Ver Meer was nearly unstoppable in the game, scoring 18 points. You can catch the action on 92.1 KRLS or streamed live at kniakrls.com, with Jamie Brockman on the play-by-play duties. The Bruxvoort’s Decorating Center pregame show begins at the conclusion of Focus on the Family.
