The PCM basketball squads have been flexing their muscles as of late, and are looking to continue their surge tonight, travelling to Jewell to face South Hamilton for the second time this season. The Mustangs came away with a sweep the last time these two teams met earlier in the season, as the girls won 65 – 44. Three players were in double figures that contest, led by Courtney VanHouweling with 17, Abbi Gilson had 16 and Krisha Houseman dumped in 12 points. Coach Bret Grier told KNIA/KRLS Sports that the big key to that victory was their hot start they got out to, and they never looked back the rest of the game. For the boys, they haven’t let their 2013 opening loss to Nevada dampen their spirits, as they’ve come back to win three straight, and go for a season sweep of South Hamilton tonight. The Mustangs won 50 – 40 back in December, which saw Ethan Kain tally 21 points. Coach Fred Lorenson wants the same defensive effort he has been seeing from his guys lately. You can catch the Mustangs’ road trip and the play-by-play on kniakrls.com, with Justin Webster calling the live streamed action. Pregame begins at 5:45 p.m. and tip-off is at 6:00.
