The Iowa Girls’ High School Athletic Union (IGHSAU) posted their 2012-13 postseason basketball brackets for the regional tournaments this past Monday evening. The girls’ squads for Pleasantville, Twin Cedars and Melcher-Dallas all got inserted into the same regional bracket (Region 6) in Class 1A. In the first round, Twin Cedars will play Moulton-Udell, the Saints will travel to Corydon to play Wayne, and Pleasantville gets to the make the not-so-pleasant drive to Martensdale to face the Blue Devils. Sabers’ head coach, Justin Nolte told KNIA/KRLS Sports that the way the brackets are set up, there is a possibility his team will have to face a previously unbeaten Moravia team for a fourth time this year in the semifinals. Nolte also mentioned that the tournament is still a little ways away, and he has girls focused on the next game on their schedule, which is Mormon Trail on Friday. KNIA/KRLS Sports will keep you updated on times and venues for each of the postseason match-ups as the regionals progress. You can see the full brackets on IGHSAU.org.
