Following their first loss of the season to close out 2012 against Western Christian, the Pella Christian girls’ basketball team has a lot of positives to take away from a 6 – 1 start. Coach Kevin Van Maanen says he wants the pace to slow down even more for his starters and the rest of his Eagles’ girls. The Eagles’ coach also told KNIA/KRLS Sports that he’s looking at his girls taking more higher-percentage shots from the post getting into the meat and potatoes of their Little Hawkeye Conference schedule, and wants them to be optimistic about their strengths rather than looking down on themselves following their setback against the Wolfpack. Van Maanen added that their inside-out game is part of what has propelled them to such a hot start in their 2012-13 season.
