Winners of five straight, the Pella Christian boys’ basketball team is not thinking about any of those games, nor are they thinking about any of the four losses they’ve had this season, either. Senior member of the Eagles’ squad, Blake Riggen, said that his team has a pretty simple approach to looking ahead on their schedule and not behind.
“We have this rule; you think about the game you just got done playing for an hour, and then you start focusing on the game you’re about to play,” Riggen said. “I think that really helps the guys get their mind set right for the next game.”
This philosophy is only a small part of what has helped propel their team to an 11 – 4 record with six games to play. A trip across county lines to Oskaloosa is next on the docket for the Eagles on Friday.
