In the Class 1A boys’ district semifinal, it’s David vs. Goliath as the Twin Cedars’ boys basketball team will face Sigourney this evening for a chance to advance to the district finals on Thursday. The Sabers’ boys have won eight of their last nine contests, including a 41 – 38 battle over North Mahaska last Thursday. Coach Alan Stewart said that his guys came out in the second half and played some of their best defense of the year and did just enough on offense to come away with the win. The Savages are 19 – 3 entering play, and have had an easy time thus far in the tournament, dismantling Seymour in their first game of the tourney, 90 – 22. The winner of the game tonight will head to Albia in the district finals to play either Pleasantville or Moulton-Udell.
