It may be hard to believe, but Major League Baseball began spring training last night, and Central’s baseball team is gearing up for their college season, which opens up on March 7. The Dutch had one of their best seasons in program history; winning the Iowa Conference with a school-record 29 wins and had four first-team all-league picks in 2012. Coach Adam Stevens said that his returning players are coming down off the high of their success and are focused and excited for the 2013 campaign to get going. Central and the rest of the Iowa Conference will have a little different schedule this year; all league games will be four-game series instead of three and will still take place over the course of two days. The Dutch’s official opening day will be the Gene Cusic Classic in Fort Myers Florida against Illinois and Heidelberg on March 7.
