The Marion County Board of Supervisors held a discussion on their policy for closing the Courthouse during inclement weather during their meeting yesterday. The Board agreed with Emergency Management Coordinator Jeff Anderson’s assessment that they had an obligation to taxpayers to be open whenever possible. Anderson indicated that in his mind that meant if even just two people from one department were able to make it, they should remain open. He did note that ice storms provide a different case because of stress on networks and electricity. Anderson added those are rare and would be considered on a case-by-case basis.
