There’s lots of activity over the winter at the Marion County Development Commission office. Director Carla Eysink says, with support from partners in Knoxville and Pella, they attend various sport and home shows, including those in Omaha, the Quad Cities, and Des Moines. She says those shows help promote all the destinations Marion County has to offer. The county continues to grow tourism opportunities and bring in travelers. In 1996, Eysink says about $15 million were spent by tourists in the county; in 2011, that number increased to $45 million. You can check out more of what their doing at the Red Rock Area website.
