Senator Chuck Grassley met with around 20 Knoxville High School students Wednesday as he continued a portion of his 99-county tour. Grassley took questions for an hour about a variety of issues, including health care, agricultural trade, and the rising tuition costs. Grassley explains that though federal Pell Grants have increased in the past, it will be hard for the government to keep playing catch-up with the cost of higher education. He suggests that the government needs to find a way to influence schools to keep those tuition costs minimal while being fair to all schools and not stifling states’ rights. Grassley says he doesn’t have an exact solution, but is willing to work with both sides of the aisle to come up with a reason able solution.
