Knowing they had a tough task in front of them to finish off their regular season, the Pella High boys’ basketball team had the wherewithal to put records and streaks behind them to win 69 – 61 over a very good Centerville team. Coach Mark Core said that his guys did a great job of not letting any of the “hype” about the Big Red get to them, and that rankings and streaks are only a consideration of how a team has done prior to that game. Pella’s win gives them loads of confidence heading into the state tournament this Monday, when they travel to play at Bondurant-Farrar for the first round of the Class 3A boys’ district.
