Add another win to the streak for PCM’s basketball teams, as they were able to sweep North Polk out of Monroe on Thursday. The Mustangs’ girls were down 40 – 34 with about 5:30 left in the game, when PCM went on a 13 – 4 run to close the game out to win 47 – 44. Kelsey Townsend led the charge once again with 15 points while Abbi Gilson dumped in 13. PCM’s boys had to survive overtime, but came out on top of the Comets, 67 – 63. It was a 17-point advantage about halfway through the third quarter for the Mustangs, but they could not put North Polk away, as they came back to tie it in the final seconds at 62 to extend the game an extra four minutes. PCM was able to hold the Comets to just one point in the bonus basketball period. Michael Neff had a huge game, throwing in 29 points, while freshman Logan Gillman had nine points off the bench in the first half. The Mustangs’ girls are now 14 – 6 on the year, while the boys are 17 – 1, each team is right back at it tonight to play their final regular season road game at Saydel at 6:00 p.m.
