An impressive crowd gathered in Monroe Tuesday night to watch what amounted to the Heart of Iowa Conference boys’ title game between PCM and Nevada. The Mustangs bested the Cubs 60-51, taking control of their own conference title destiny with just one game remaining on the regular season schedule. With a victory at home Friday night versus Saydel, PCM will officially reach one of their season goals. Three different Mustangs reached double digits offensively against Nevada, but Ethan Kain raised his game to a new level, leading all scorers with 21 points. Kain attacked the rack early and often and set the tone for PCM who never trailed Nevada in the conference clash. The other two offensive outbursts for the Mustangs came from Michael Neff and Alex DeWitte who added a dozen points each. Up next for PCM is the regular season finale Friday night as they host Saydel.
