The Pella High girls wrap up their regular season tonight and the boys will try to rebound after a last-second loss on Tuesday, as each team finished their Little Hawkeye Conference basketball schedule at home against Newton. Offensively, it was a struggle the first time the two girls’ teams met up in mid-January; the Lady Dutch shot just 20 percent from the field and were outscored 19 – 3 in the third period to fall 47 – 37 to the Cardinals. Down by 12 in their game against Norwalk this past Tuesday, the Little Dutch stormed back to tie it up with ten seconds left, only to fall on a last-second three-point play 55 – 52. The Cardinals’ boys come in at 7 – 10 on the year, and Pella head coach, Mark Core, said that Newton’s record deceives them. Pella’s boys come into tonight with a 12 – 7 mark. You can stream tonight’s doubleheader on kniakrls.com with Trevor Castle stepping in to do play-by-play duties alongside Randy Sikkema. Pregame coverage begins at 6:00 p.m. with tip-off of the girls’ game at 6:15. There will also be a delayed broadcast on 92.1 KRLS following Pella Christian’s hardwood action.
