The Pella High wrestling team had two contrasting duals Thursday night at home against Oskaloosa and Dallas Center-Grimes. The Little Dutch came into the triangular dual with seven open weights, but beyond that, were very successful against the Indians, going 5 – 2 in the seven matches they did wrestle, including four pins and a minor decision, in a 45 – 27 loss. Joe Blauw, a JV wrestler for Pella at 138 pounds, stepped up to the varsity level and won his match 9 – 6. The strong effort by the Dutch didn’t quite carry through to the DCG dual, as the Mustangs won 59 – 12. Pella finishes the regular season at 2 – 13, and will have about a week-and-a-half off before the district meets on February 9.
