Central’s basketball squads are hoping to end their regular seasons with a bang when they host Simpson this afternoon at the P.H. Kuyper Gymnasium. The Dutch women are playing for pride, having been mathematically eliminated from the Iowa Conference tournament with their loss to Loras on Wednesday. They’re looking for some momentum to springboard them into next season, and a win over a ranked Storm team would do the trick. Simpson beat them in their first meet-up late last month, 73 – 56. The Storm used good defense to get out to a 14-point halftime lead the Dutch couldn’t climb out of. Central’s men can clinch the sixth seed in the Iowa Conference tournament today with a win in their contest. It will not be easy, as Simpson was able to escape with a 75 – 70 victory in their first game this season. It was the hot shooting AJ Arrington and Olu Rotibi that fueled the Storm to the win in that game.
