President Barack Obama gave his State of the Union Address on Tuesday evening. The primary focus of the speech was economic proposals. Central College Professor of Political Science Andrew Green says that many of the items in that portion of the speech outlined agenda items heard in his reelection campaign. He says the one surprising part was a call to raise the minimum wage to $9 per hour. Green says he thinks the Marco Rubio response was a wasted opportunity for the republican party, where Rubio continued the strategy of going after the president, rather than presenting a clear vision for the future of the party.
