Tomorrow’s the first day on the job for new Knoxville Fire Chief Nick Bonstell. Bonstell comes to Iowa after previously serving on the Grand Rapids, Michigan Fire Department. He tells KNIA/KRLS that he has a variety of goals he’d like to accomplish, including lowering the city’s Insurance Service Office rating to help lower insurance premiums. Bonstell says the city currently sits at a high six out on a scale out of ten, but with some minor changes and documentation, he hopes that score could be lowered to around a four. He says it will take time and planning, but hopes to bring in the group that evaluates scores in about two years’ time.
