The Pleasantville Trojans’ girls fell to the Mount Ayr Raiders 60-31 and the boys picked up their 15th win of the season as they took down the Raiders 51-44 to split Friday night’s doubleheader. Sophomore Kennedy Core had 20 points on the night for the Trojans, who found themselves down 14 at half. After a third quarter that saw the Trojans get outscored 16-2, Mount Ayr was able to lock up the win. Pleasantville’s girls fall to 1-20 on the year. The Pleasantville boys picked a big win up later in the evening taking down the Raiders 51-44. The Trojans found themselves down ten at the break but stepped up on the defensive side of the ball in the second half allowing only 10 total points to lock up the win. After the game, head coach Tom Wilkins talked about his defense stepping up to secure the victory.
Trevor Zoss led all Trojans with 19 points on the night. Junior Dylan Lauer left the game early in the first quarter after a hard collision to the ground, returned to the game in the second quarter to finish with 16 points on the evening. The Trojans’ boys are now 15-4 on the year, and both the girls and boys will be in action next on Tuesday against Southeast Warren for Pleasantville’s Coaches vs. Cancer night.
