Marion County remains under a Winter Storm Warning until noon today. 8.5 inches of snow has already fallen in the past 24 hours, with more expected throughout the morning.

The Iowa Department of Transportation reports that all area roadways are snow covered and may be slick.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office reports that there have been several accidents on county and state roads since the storm began yesterday, with many vehicles in ditches. Marion County Sheriff Jason Sandholt tells KNIA/KRLS News that a tow ban is in effect, and he urges caution if one must travel.

City, state and county plows are in operation.

The Knoxville and Pella snow ordinances are in effect.

If you must travel this morning, take plenty of time to get to your destination, and give our road crews and first responders plenty of room to work.
