Pulmonary disease is the fourth leading cause of death in the United States. That’s an important reminder during Pulmonary Rehabilitation Week this week. Knoxville Hospital and Clinics spokeswoman Katrina Nelson says their pulmonary rehab program offers patients and family members support to meet the day-to-day challenges of those living with a chronic lung disorder, like chronic bronchitis, cystic fibrosis, or asthma. She explains it teaches patients how to make positive life changes, like those in diet, exercise, and smoking habits, and return to a higher level of health.
