40 Knoxville High School students will be taking it easy in the Big Easy this week. Those band members are taking part in their spring break trip to New Orleans. Band Director Ben Varner was on the first trip as a student in 2005. He says the city’s culture is unique and offers a nice educational experience for students. While in New Orleans, Varner says they’ll visit the World War II Museum, Preservation Hall, the French Market, and will have a meal at the New Orleans School of Cooking. They’ll also perform twice – at Artillery Park and at the Spanish Plaza. The group will leave at noon today on their 17-hour journey. They’ll be back in Knoxville next Friday morning.
