The Marion County Board of Supervisors and the County Board of Health held a joint meeting Tuesday.  The goal of the meeting was to look to the future of Public Health in the county, assuring that efficiencies will be maintained, and that essential services will be continued in the county at the most effective cost to taxpayers.  Other models of distribution of Public Health efforts were discussed, including the use of non-profits, and a sub-committee is in the process of being formed that will address changes in the Public Health Environment that includes fewer grant monies likely being available, a declining tax base, and an aging population.
