After winning a pair of seven-inning contests on Saturday, the Central baseball team just couldn’t quite recover from an early 6 – 0 deficit, as their ninth inning rally was cut short in a 6 – 4 loss to Olivet, their first of the season. Jordan Judkins singled in two in the final frame, going 2-for-4 on the day, but Olivet built their lead too big for the Dutch to overcome in the first six innings. Central pitcher Ryan Deuel gave up five earned runs on ten hits, and his control was an issue all game long, walking seven batters. Central finishes their Fort Myers, Florida trip with a record of 4 – 1 and will stay in Florida this week for the Russ Matt Invitational and a final tune-up before Iowa Conference games start a week from Saturday on the 22nd.
