Both Mallory Schulenberg and Abbey Strajack of the Central softball squad earned Iowa Conference honors for their play last week. Schulenberg, a sophomore pitcher, was named the Iowa Conference female athlete of the week with a 3 – 0 record and a 0.32 ERA in four games and three starts during the Tucson Invitational. Strajack, the Dutch’s second baseman, was named the conference’s position player of the week, after hitting .514 with a pair of doubles, a triple, and seven RBI’s down in Arizona. She currently leads the team in batting average with .472 and has swiped ten bases, which also leads the league. Central’s softball team is 11 – 5 overall and they are right back to action in “Baseball Heaven” in St. Louis, Missouri with non-conference games this Saturday against Washington-St. Louis and Augustana.
