Marion County is beginning preparations for a full IT assessment next month. The Board of Supervisors and many department heads met Tuesday afternoon with members of Iowa Counties Information Technology Organization to discuss their future needs in terms of infrastructure and ways they can save money. The organization has helped several counties across the state assess what they have in terms of infrastructure and how they can consolidate and save money in IT Technology. ICIT is now planning to put together a team and do a full assessment of the county’s systems in late April; they’ll then present their report in May. Many department heads said Tuesday they liked the idea of possibility of having a full-time IT Director for the county. That’s one of many solutions that could be suggested after the assessment is completed.
