Dry Ground Could Lead to Warm Spring Temperatures

With spring getting underway, people are looking ahead. Farmers are wondering what conditions will be as they get in the fields, and others just want to know if this year will be a bit cooler than last. WeatherEye Meteorologist Ray Miller tells KNIA/KRLS News that over the next three months, there’s a good chance that we see above average precipitation; there’s also a very good chance we see above normal temperatures. He explains that despite the recent precipitation, the frozen ground hasn’t soaked in that water. Drought conditions are continuing, meaning heat’s more likely to reflect off the ground. Miller says if we were to get a good rain in early spring after the ground’s thawed, it could change that long-term temperature outlook.
