The Marion County Extension Office is starting their spring workshop series this week with a focus on farm ponds. Last summer’s extreme heat and dry weather has caused issues for many pond owners with submerged plants, floating plants, and algae. Aquaculture and fisheries specialist Allen Pattillo will conduct a pond-side workshop next Saturday from 10:30-noon. It’ll be located on a pond at 1828 Highway T-15, located about halfway between Knoxville and Pella. Pattillo will go over some practices and options to reduce or eliminate aquatic plants.
