A local scholarship is available for students who are looking at careers in conservation and natural resources. The Gladys Black Scholarship Fund was created to memorialize the Marion County Naturalist who was known as “The Bird Lady of Iowa.” To be eligible, you must be a Marion County resident or a graduate of a Marion County High School and you must be studying a field in either conservation or natural resources. Those interested in the scholarship are encouraged to check with high school counselor’s office for an application. The scholarship is sponsored by the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation and administered by the Red Rock Environmental Education Fund.
