High Precipitation Doesn’t Help Drought

The IDNR has released their monthly water summary. While Marion County is far above normal precipitation levels, or shallow groundwater and streamflow levels a below normal to far below normal. The IDNR is warning that until the soil unfreezes in northern Iowa, the excessive runoff could lead to flooding. On a positive note, the IDNR says that many expected fish kills due to low water levels did not happen.
