On many track and field teams most of the participants are in multiple events in either the track events or the field events. For girls’ team member Cheyenne Jones she is focusing on just one event, the Shot Put. Jones qualified for the state meet last season but was also in three track events last year. Coach Jeremy Van Engen says just concentrating on the shot put this season should help her focus on the single event and attain her goal of not only making the state meet as she did last year, but placing on the medial stand. Jones has already made progress in the team’s first two indoor meets of the season by placing second at the conference indoor and finishing 12th at the Central Indoor last week. The Panthers get their outdoor season underway this Friday at the Clarke Invitational.
