The Knoxville School Board has set a public hearing for their March 25th meeting regarding their proposed 2013-14 budget. The budget right now is set with zero percent allowable growth. The property tax levy is set to decrease to by $1.25 right now to $15.49. That’s mainly due to the high school coming off the debt service levy; Superintendent Dr. Randy Flack says for each percent allowable growth added through the state, property taxes will decrease at least another 30 cents. He hopes the state will set allowable growth at four percent; the legislature has recently talked about setting it somewhere between two and four percent.
