The Little Hawkeye Conference has been widely referred as one of the toughest three-A conferences in the state. Knoxville, Norwalk, Oskaloosa, Pella and Grinnell are all three-A; with Pella Christian being two-A and Newton the lone four-A school. Knoxville Boys Coach Jeff Larson says there is never an easy game in the conference. Dallas Center-Grimes will enter the conference next season and for one season six of the eight teams will be class three-A schools. Pella Christian and Grinnell both made the state tournament this season. To give you an idea how good the conference has been, since the L-H-C’s first season in 1996, only one year has there not been a conference team make the state tournament. That was 2005.
