For this first time since the drought began last year, a majority of Marion County is classified as abnormally dry according to the latest USDA Drought Monitor. We had been in moderate drought conditions throughout the winter, but recent precipitation has brought relief to all but the far north of the county, and much of the rest of the state. A quarter of the state in the southeast is now listed as abnormally dry. Worse drought levels still persist in the northwest.
