Knoxville Hospital and Clinics recently installed a brand-new MRI. The Toshiba Vantage Titan enhances patient experience by, among other things, offering a large, wide opening. 70% of MRI studies can be performed feet first with the new machine, where the patient’s head can lie outside of the opening. It also provides a 35% larger imaging area than their previous MRI. Chief MRI Technologist Bobi Mart says it’s a dramatic improvement over traditional MR systems. She adds that the contrast-free imaging is important; patients avoid intravenous injections, and it eliminates an additional cost to the patient and hospital.
