It was the Mustangs’ boys’ soccer team that prevailed over Pella Christian in the season opener on Thursday, 2 – 0. Eagles’ head coach, Gerrit Brouwer said that his team controlled the ball well and he said he felt like his team did a great job of dictating the pace, just PCM were able to score on a few counter attacks that his team wasn’t ready for. Eagles’ goalkeeper, Carson Dugger stopped eight of the ten shots on goal, while his counterpart, Derrick Hoodjer blocked all 14 of the Eagles’ shots for the shut out. Jamison Goodyk and Jamie Ray, each from Lynnville-Sully, found the back of the net for the Mustangs, who start the season 1 – 0. Pella Christian is next in action on Monday versus North Polk, while PCM hosts Chariton this Thursday.
