The Pella High boys’ track and field team had a resounding win in Winterset on Friday, conquering the competition and beating second place Norwalk by 88. Pella had a number “one” next to their name in nine different events, including a win by Nathan Clayberg in the discus, Keegan Fitzsimmons in the 3200, Lukas Steenhoek in the 400, Evan Jones in the 1600 and Ryan Shull’s victory in the 200. Jordan Pingel also recorded a first place time in the 400 meter hurdles. The 4 x 200, 400 and 800 meter relay teams for the Little Dutch also were victorious on Friday, who ended up with 150 points compared to second place Norwalk’s 72. Head coach, Brent Van Hauen said that he was very happy with the way the kids competed, and he’s very impressed with the times the team posted despite the little “outside” time they’ve had for practice. The Pella varsity team is next in action at Nevada on Thursday.
